At least input and output cables and plugs could be color coded by voltage to make the use of wrong voltages for our devices and their subsequent failure or damage very unlikely.

There are even chargers self regulating their voltage by measuring the returning voltage in regular short charging breaks.
The most easiest such chargers could detect a base voltage and it’s multitudes for charging all standard galvanic or electro chemical cells at least combinations of one species of cells.
More sophisticated chargers could detect and handle almost any voltage.
